Frequently Asked Questions:
What do the puppies come with?
-Our puppies come with a full Vet health-check and their first set of vaccinations as well as deworming. They will come with a vaccination card so you have their records. Our puppies also come with a blanket that smells like Mom and their litter-mates so it makes the transition to your home a little easier. We will also provide a stainless steel bowl, a collar, a small toy, as well as a small bag of puppy kibble that they are used to and you can incorporate into the food of your choice when you bring them home. Our dogs and puppies are fed a dry kibble from Costco (the Blue Kirkland ‘Salmon & Sweet Potato’ bag) as we have liked how our dogs do with that food. We also feed our puppies and dogs fresh raw eggs everyday from our chickens as its a great source of protein and fat.
In what way do we get your puppy ready for the big wide world?
-We pride ourselves that we have an ideal living situation in order to get your puppy ready for all the things they might experience during life. They are raised in our home for the first 5 weeks where we can make sure they are safe and getting all the care from their Moms. During this time in our home, the puppies are touched and handled with care multiple times a day and are exposed to all that a household with 5 boys brings. After the puppies start on a solid diet, the puppies are then moved to an insulated, heated and lit area in our barn where they have more room to play. While they are in our barn, they are exposed to our sheep, chickens and cats. We also bring the puppies inside our home everyday for a couple hours to expose them to all the house sounds and textures too. We also have the joy of taking the puppies on car rides and giving them baths early on in life so these aren’t traumatic experiences when they are older.
What do Aussie’s need to be happy dogs?
-Aussies are the best breed of dog (in my opinion) as they are always up for an adventure but are also ready to lay on the floor or cuddle on the couch. Aussies do need to be in an active family tho. Whether that be going for a walk and playing fetch, hiking, biking, or going for a run, they need some way to get their energy out. Mental stimulation with training them in obedience, agility, or teaching them tricks is also a great way to tire them out as they are such a smart breed and need to use their brains. Puppies still need to be exercised although it is NOT recommended to run with a puppy until they are 18 weeks old so their hips can develop first and become strong enough to support them during that specific activity. The rule of thumb for puppy exercise is 5 Min walk - 2 times a day for each month they are old. A happy Aussie is an active (physical & mental) Aussie!!
What is the process for purchasing one of our puppies?
-Our biggest desire is that our puppies have happy and healthy lives with a family or individual that loves them and takes care of the needs that specifically Aussies have. When you first contact us about purchasing one of our puppies, we will ask you a series of questions about your activity level, knowledge of the Aussie breed, your living conditions so we know our puppies have a place to play (an apartment isn’t a deal breaker but that individual would just have to be more proactive to the puppies activity needs), and lastly what your work schedule is. We ask these questions not to be intrusive into your private life, but rather to make sure that the potential Buyer knows what is required to be good Aussie owners and can fulfill the needs that Aussies have before purchasing.
-We require a 25% non-refundable deposit on the purchase price of the puppy to hold the puppy of your choice. On the day that you pick up your puppy we require the remainder of the purchase price of the puppy be paid by e-transfer only. Your puppy is ready to pick up and take home at 8 weeks of age and we are strict that puppies don’t go earlier than that for their own benefit and well-being. We do ship puppies by air-flight and the buyer is responsible to pay for all shipping costs prior to shipment. We take no responsibility for the puppy once it is out of our care. Once the puppy is in your care, we will send you a Bill of Sale as well as information on finishing the registration process with the ASDR. I will register the litter with the ASDR and the buyer is responsible to fill out their end and pay for the fee to finish the registration. The cost is not usually more than $40. After the registration is finished on your end, you will receive your puppy’s registration papers in the mail, usually a couple weeks later.
-Once you have made your 25% deposit, I will mark your puppy as sold and you can expect weekly update pictures so you can watch them grow until you have them in your own home.
-You are more than welcome to come and visit your puppy at a pre-arranged time ONCE during their puppyhood stage in our home, but we will be strict and only allow one visit as we are a busy homeschool family that has many things on the go. We don’t like people to visit before the puppies are about 5 weeks old just to make sure they have their immune systems a little stronger.
-We will have a contract that you as the Buyer will need to sign on the day of purchase, going over purchase agreements which includes the agreement that your puppy will not be used for breeding purposes (unless otherwise arranged) and that the puppy will be spayed or neutered within the first year of life.
What is our 1 Year Health Guarantee?
-Buyer must have puppy examined by a licensed Veterinarian within 72 hours of taking possession of the puppy either via pickup or delivery. Seller must be informed immediately of the examinations results by email or by text. The failure to not comply with this term will result in the health warranty being null and void. Your puppy is guaranteed until 1 year of age against fatal or life altering congenital disease which adversely affects the life of the puppy. This includes kidney, heart, pancreas, spine, and liver diseases of a severe or life altering nature. If the puppy dies within this one-year time frame, the buyer will be required to pay to have a necropsy performed to determine the cause of death. If the cause of death is congenital, the Seller will replace the puppy. This guarantee does not cover typical coccidia, giaardia or bordatella, as all are very contagious and easily transmitted when shipping, traveling, going to the vet, dog parks, pet stores, ect. All items covered by this guarantee are by replacement only. We do not give refunds. We as a breeder will NOT be responsible for any medical expenses incurred. The buyer is aware that owning a puppy requires appropriate Veterinary care on a regular basis and that the Buyer is responsible for ALL payments.
